A/B Testing

Measurement instead of opinion: prove whether a change actually worked.

Not every change to a page is an improvement. A/B testing shows two versions to real traffic at the same time and proves which converts better. Here we sharpen the hypothesis, calculate sample size upfront, and run the test undisturbed until it reaches statistical significance. The most common mistake is declaring a winner from a few days of data — it is why half of all reported results are wrong. We build the process specifically to avoid it.

What We Offer

  • Hypothesis and success metric definition
  • Sample size calculation
  • Statistical significance checks
  • Permanent implementation of the winner
Scope

What's included in A/B Testing?

Writing the Hypothesis

Every test starts by writing down what will change and why it should work. Trying random variants is not testing, it is generating noise.

Sample Size Calculation

Test duration is calculated upfront from traffic and current conversion rate; we do not run tests of indefinite length.

One-Variable Discipline

Change several things at once and you cannot tell which one worked. Variables are separated and sequenced.

Significance Checks

Results are not interpreted before reaching statistical significance. Most early-peaking variants regress to the mean.

The Value of Losing Tests

A losing test is still information. Results are documented so the same idea is not retried a year later.

Permanent Implementation

The winning variant moves into the code rather than living in the testing tool, so the site does not become dependent on it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Our traffic is low — can we run A/B tests?

On low traffic a classic A/B test will not reach significance; duration stretches into months. In that case we recommend qualitative methods: heatmaps, session recordings and user interviews.

Does testing harm SEO?

Not when set up correctly. Rather than keeping the same content permanently on two URLs, we use the testing tool's recommended methods and remove the test when it ends.

How many tests do we need?

Do not expect lasting results from a single test. Meaningful gains usually come from a series, and establishing a steady cadence is worth far more than a one-off attempt.

Which page should we start with?

The one with high traffic that sits closest to conversion. The same percentage improvement earns far more at the checkout step than on the homepage.
